How to Stop Excessive Groin Sweating | What Your Options Are

The groin area is one of the worst places a person can suffer from excessive sweating. If you’re a sufferer of an excessive sweating groin, don’t worry there are things that can be done to ease it and most definitely products that can stop it.

Some practical things you can do yourself to ease excessive groin sweating:

Keep Cool and Fresh

Sounds simple but it’s very effective. It can take a few hours before you begin to sweat after a shower sometimes. Instead of showering once a day, try 2 or even 3 if it doesn’t affect your work schedule too much. This is especially useful during the summer months when the climate warms up. Also, try to stay away from any unnecessary exertion and avoid wearing thick clothes that limit the amount of air to your groin.

Lighter Clothing

This is a hugely useful tactic against a sweaty groin. Cotton underwear should always be your number one choice as it’s light and airy and can also absorb sweat well. You should also opt for looser fitting clothes and avoid skin tight clothing that can limit your skins ability to breathe.

Use Talc and Dry Thoroughly

After showering be sure to dry yourself down thoroughly in the groin area. Then add a talcum powder to the area as this acts as a very effective sweat absorbent. This is also a particularly good thing to use before you’re planning on taking part in a rigorous activity were it’s likely you’ll begin to sweat a lot.

Stay Away from Perfume and Cologne

Sweat when left to dry on the surface of the skin can react with the bacteria in the air which then produces the common odour we attribute to sweat. However, sweat from the groin area is oilier than the rest of the body which when mixed with perfume or cologne can actual intensify the smell and produces and a strong unpleasant odour. Trying to cover up the sweat smell with perfume/cologne can also produce allergic reactions as it can unsettle the body’s natural PH balance.

Diet & Exercise

I know it seems just about every condition on Earth should be tackled with proper diet and exercise. Well, excessive sweating of the groin is no different. If there’s excess skin and fat in the groin area it can lead to extra insulation, which in turn increases the amount of heat and can result in the excessive sweat that you’re experiencing.

A healthy lifestyle has also been proven to reduce the amount of sweat the body secretes. Without going into too much detail, sweat is the body’s very own antioxidant function, removing any toxins within the body.

Doctors Opinion

I can’t stress enough the importance of first seeing a doctor with your condition. Due to the many underlying factors to excessive groin sweating, it’s imperative that you get his/her opinion before you decide to go down any treatment/product route.

    Hi James,

I’m so glad I found this site, thanks for the info on the products I can buy. I’ve never tried the cream, that’d be ideal for me, I can imagine the antiperspirants would be a little too irritating for down there. Have you ever tried the secure wipes? Where would I be able to buy those?

    Thanks again!
